A Place For New Beginnings

Do you have 2020 VISION?

Praise God that He has allowed us to do what we have for Him. In everything, we have found His timing perfect, His wisdom flawless and His provisions absolute.

Going forward, we are putting together a new vision, because “where there is no vision the people perish” (Prov. 29:18, KJV). We will plan because “if you aim at nothing you will surely hit it.” And as we seek to discover and walk in God’s good and perfect will, we will get to know Him better.

Our first step was to determine our Values. We did this as a congregation in the fall of 2009, by simply trying to answer the question: "Who Are We?"

The next step, putting together a Mission statement, will answer the question: "What Does God Want Us To Do?"

The final step, to put things into action, will be our Vision, which will answer the question: "How Are We Going To Do It?"

Values - Who Are We?

Mission - What Does God Want Us To Do?

Vision - How Are We Going To Do It?

All with God’s help, all to His glory.

The First Baptist Church of York
Values Statement

These values guide us in all that we do:

Centered in Christ – Jesus Christ is the head of our church. Whatever we do is for His glory, honor and praise. (Eph. 1:22-23)

Grounded in the Word – We acknowledge that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, through which God reveals Himself to us. (Ps. 119:105; 2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Offered in Worship – We seek to worship God together in spirit and truth, using music, Scripture, offerings, prayer and the preaching of God’s Word to exalt Jesus. We also worship through the daily offering of ourselves to God wherever we go in the world. (John 4:24; Romans 12:1-2)

Unified in Discipleship – We focus on the educational and spiritual growth of our children, youth and adults. (Luke 14:25-35; Acts 2:42; Eph. 6:1-4)

Bonded in Love – The perfect, unconditional love of God leads us to love, forgive and help one another as much as God has loved, forgiven and helped each of us. Love will always be the supreme value in all of our relationships. (1 John 3:16-18)

Supported in Fellowship – The Christian life is meant to be lived as part of a larger body of Christ. We share together in the joys and sorrows of life, growing together until we reach maturity in Christ. (Prov. 27:17; Acts 2:42-47; Eph. 4:12-16)

United in Prayer – We express our faith corporately and individually by continually calling on God in prayer to give wisdom, vision and direction, healing, strength and to make us more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. In prayer, we confess our sins, praise Him for who He is and thank Him for what He has done, is doing and will do in our lives and in the world. (Col. 1:9-12; 1 John 1:9)

Invested in Missions – We are committed to reaching as many people as possible in our community and around the world with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)
