The 2008-2009 Concert Season

Sunday, February 22, 2009 – 3:00 PM
Thomas Pandolfi, piano

American pianist Thomas Pandolfi is emerging as a prodigious virtuoso who excels in reviving the core repertoire from the golden age of pianism. The young pianist's career has already included performances with such European orchestras as The George Enescu Philharmonic, The Moravian Philharmonic, The National Philharmonic of the Republic of Moldova, The Tiraspol Philharmonic, and The Galati Philharmonic, as well as the American symphony orchestras of Mississippi, Cedar Rapids, Asheville, Princeton, San Angelo, Fairfax, and Owensboro. He has also performed as soloist with the York Symphony Orchestra under conductor Robert Hart Baker. Equally popular as a recitalist, Pandolfi has appeared in concert halls nationwide.

Sunday, March 22, 2009 – 3:00 PM
The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra

The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra first appeared in the Encore Concert Series in February 2006 to a very appreciative audience, and since that time many folks have asked about the possibility of a return engagement. The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra, under the directorship of David T. Evans, is a Baltimore, Maryland-based ensemble of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, mandobasses, and classical guitars. They play a mix of classical music, show tunes, marches, rags, and a variety of other light classical and popular tunes. The orchestra is one of more than 25 active mandolin ensembles in the United States today. The classical mandolin is enjoying a renaissance in our country, and the BMO is proudly riding that wave of popularity.
