Principal functions: The Director of Youth is expected to reach youth for Christ, grades 6-12. Develop relationships with youth to encourage development of a deeper relationship with Christ.
Responsible to: The Director of Youth is employed by the Church Council. The Director is directly responsible to the Chair of the Christian Education Team and the Pastor.
Areas of Responsibility:
Have evidence of a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and bear witness to that in their lifestyle. Personal life must reflect a high ethical, Christian standard, including but not limited to social media sites, informal gatherings outside of church, and in interpersonal relationships.
Plan and develop age-appropriate ministries for middle school and high school youth, including but not limited to:
Weekly youth meetings
Oversee the recruitment and training of adult volunteers.
Participate in the annual vacation Bible school.
Facilitate intergenerational events.
Assist in development of an annual budget with the Chair of the Christian Education Team.
Possesses relevant clearances required to interact with youth.
Participate in Sunday School and church. Coordinate with Pastor relative to various responsibilities.
Promote youth activities through social media and leveraging the church’s website.
Provide clear communication to parents and youth regarding upcoming events.
Write monthly article for Tidings newsletter.
Salary shall be commensurate with experience, education, and training of the employee and agreed upon with the Church Council.
Youth Director will be reviewed after three months and then annually by the Pastor and Chair of Christian Education Team.
